Where to start…well…Steamboat Springs has always been a special place for us…we’ve been staying at the Kutuk for years with Eckelhoff & Co and this year may go down as one of the best. We had great attendance this year… organizer’s Kat, Ed and Frida, guest’s of Honor Erica, Simon and Stella, as well as our crew, Soonie, Kate, Josh and myself…we also had Jim, Eden and Conner right down stairs and Amanda flew in again, Scott (the Unemployed, formerly Scott the architect, although technically he’s still an architect…) and Miss Amy rounds out the crew. The best thing about the Kutuk has got to be the location. We were right off Ski Time square with a quick walk to the Tug Boat as well as a handful of other bars. It’s also really close to the slopes.
As mentioned, the Brown’s made a triumphant return with baby in tow, to Colorado to throw the gauntlet down. Simon took home the prize for Iron Man hands down the first night….managing to stay awake for 25 straight hours…not to mention traveling from Toronto to Buffalo (by car) to Chicago (by air) to Denver (by air) to Steamboat (by car) only to outpace the majority of peeps by hanging ’til 3AM…I witnessed it…and I have to give Kat credit…she made it to 3AM as well on Friday. Friday was the closest thing to a Fraternity Party since my Syracuse days.

Saturday was a day of recovery…and honestly I don’t remember doing too much…drove out for Breakfast Burritos…then we went down to celebrate Springalicious at the Bear River Bar & Grill for a free concert and some cheap grub. The band was decent…I’ll give em some pub too…They’re called American Relay from Denver….great blues sound. After lunch it was Hot Tub time…
Josh was amazed by the time we got into the tub…it was a full blizzard outside. We sat and relaxed with Scott, Ed and Kat for awhile before wrapping it up and heading back up to the condo for some Guitar Hero.

Saturday night a pajama party broke out…pictured here are Frida, Stella and Kate. We also played that guitar game for hours…only to be replaced by the full band version Rock Band that Jim and Eden brought along. It came with Drums and a mic…look for some funny video’s soon featuring me/Amy/Ed on the Mic…Simon /Jim/Erica/ on Guitar and Amanda rocking the Drums like nobody’s business. It was a great time and we might be starting a band by next spring to rock the TugBoat.
Sunday was all about the Mountain…it started off a little hectic…but turned out to be a fantastic day!
Soonie ski’d the big mountain… Josh went to ski school (look for a related post with lots of pics) And Kate got multiple sled rides from Dad…

After Ski school Josh
said “I’m ready to ski
the big mountain with Mommy now” I was thinking more like a Hot Dog and a
Nap…so we headed back to the condo.

After all the skiers returned we rallied the group and went back down the base for another free concert. This time it was the Radiators… if you are not familiar, you owe it to yourself. These guys jammed and jammed. Josh invented a new kind of crowd surfing and we danced and slid all over the snow.
After all that commotion and a really long day…the kid’s needed to hit the hot tub before we hit the road… Thanks to everyone for making this trip so memorable. Hope you all make it back for Steamboat ‘09.
See Ya!
